By Gavin Lennard and Steve Nicola A stunning, nostalgic performance by the Ruts on Saturday evening more than eclipsed the lacklustre on-pitch performance from earlier in the day as the 1st XI did themselves proud and turned up ‘en masse’ with their partners for the Football Section Lookalikes/Fancy Dress Disco. There were less impressive turnouts from the 2nd XI and 3rd XI although 2nd XI gaffer Graham Clayton tried to compensate by drinking his entire team's bodyweight in lager-tops. And 3rd XI manager Erol Yilmaz was there in spirit thanks to Danny Poulter's superb costume! 1st XI Captain Phil ‘Freddie Mercury’ Rea led proceedings by example and put on an enthralling performance of Queen’s ‘Don't Stop Me Now.’ Phil’s pleasure pouch was travelling at the speed of light much to the amusement of the many spectators. | Phil 'Freddie Mercury' Rea and his belly show just why he won the prize for best costume. | |
| A few pints later and Freddie needs little persuading to strut his stuff to 'Don't Stop Me Now'. Apologies for the poor camera work, I didn't expect Phil to move about so fast - he never shows such quick feet on the pitch! | |
| Really getting into it, Freddie takes off his top and tries to persuade DJ Nick ‘Dr Bonky’ Skilton to let him do another one. But the crowd are clamouring for a piano number, so up steps... | |
| ... Matt ‘Elton John’ Blomeley. With two pints on the go Blommers doesn't let the lack of a piano hinder him and plays the table superbly. | |
| Darren ‘The Surgeon’ Noonan looks on as Elton dazzles the fans with his performance. | |
| The Poulter Boys - Danny (right) pays homage to his gaffer by donning an uncanny Erol Yilmaz costume, while ‘The Milky Bar Kid’ Lee shared the title of Best Lookalike with.... | |
| ....Steve ‘Zinedine Zidane’ Nicola, here shown under imminent attack from Leon ‘Jason’ Trowbridge. | |
| Scott ‘Bugs Bunny’ Ryder and friends. | |
| Marc ‘Ali G’ Hawley stands next to Gary 'Couldn't be arsed to dress up' Langton. But at least you made the effort to turn up Gary, more than can be said for many! | |
| Scott ‘Robin Hood’ Hawley and Jason again, with (L-R) Ali G, Alan ‘70s’ Whiter and Jimmy ‘Freddy Kruger’ Wilkes in the background. | |
| (L-R) Ed ‘Starsky’ Reynolds, Sarah 'Uma Thurman from Pulp Fiction' Reynolds, Robin Hood and Zidane. | |

My camera ran out of battery halfway through the night and I missed a few of the other great costumes. But everyone looked great - well done and thanks to Nick for organising a top event. |
